Threshold's Window

Because Threshold was designed to be simple to use and understand, it has only a single window, shown below.  The illustration below shows how Threshold will appear on a B&W PowerBook.  Threshold also supports grayscale and color, so if your PowerBook supports these, your display will look much nicer!

 












Voltage graph

This box shows the current battery voltage, as well as the warning thresholds.  The display is calibrated to show 5.5 volts to 7.0 volts, which covers the typical range of a PowerBook battery.

Warning thresholds

The lines in the voltage graph indicate the voltages at which the warnings will occur.  The rightmost line represents the first warning.  The middle line is the second warning, and the leftmost line is the final warning.

Window lever

This lever allows you to select the size and display options of the window.  If the lever is up, only the voltage graph will be shown.  If the lever is down, the window expands to show the additional informational displays, as well as the sleep button.

Sleep button

If you press this button with the mouse, your PowerBook will go to sleep.

Threshold adjustment arrows

Using these arrows, you can raise or lower the point at which the warnings will occur.  The arrows control the first warning (the rightmost line).  The second and final warnings are automatically adjusted for you.

Note that these arrows will only appear if the current set is a custom set.  You cannot adjust the default Apple set.

Elapsed time

Shows the elapsed time since the charger was unplugged.  If the charger is plugged in, the elapsed time is hidden.

Battery voltage

Shows the current battery voltage, with an accuracy of 0.01 volts.

Shows the battery status.  The following indicators will be used:
